<p>PURPOSE:To clearly perform automatic discrimination between a line drawing, and a gradation drawing, by discriminating them corresponding to the value of a function consisting of the maximum value, the minimum value, and the mean value of picture element density. CONSTITUTION:By reading the picture element density of an image by a line sensor, and finding the maximum value Dmax, the minimum value Dmin, and the mean value Dave of a read picture element density, the value A of the function setting them as variables, is found by expression A=(Dmax-@ Dave)/(Dmax-Dmin). It is possible to discriminate a read image as the grada tion drawing if the function value A is 0.35<=A<=0.65, but if the A is 0.3<A<0.35, or 0.65<A<0.7, it is regulated as impossible to discriminate be cause high possibility that both drawings are mixed exists. The read image can be discriminated as the line drawing if the function value A is other than the above values.</p> |
