The valve holding plate has a central body for the valve and an annular groove formed by bending over its outer edge. The groove accommodates a seal, and the edge of the can mouth, to which the plate is crimped. The groove (24) has a spacer (12) bearing against the seal (23) and shaped to suit the thicknesses (Tm,Tg), of the plate (21) and seal. The distance (x) of the outside surface (7), forming a support for the crimping tool on the beaded edge (28), from the can mouth edge (5) after crimping is of a fixed value to suit all material thicknesses of the plate and seal. |
