PURPOSE:To attain reference to a document summary by checking the document constitution, and showing the document in a pattern based on the nouns, verbs, conjunctions, etc. CONSTITUTION:The input information I0 is supplied to an input part I1. A logic part L0 contains a document storing part DM, a word storing part WM, a comparison/transmission part CT and a graphic conversion part GC. A document is converted into marks by the part CT with reference to a conversion table. For instance, the Japanese words 'NIYOTTE' (by means of) is converted into a mark ' '. Then the part GC converts the document received from the part CT. In this case, the word units (1)-(13) are arranged for each line and an editing job is sometimes given exceptionally to those units (6)-(10). Thus the document is converted and the document constitution can be turned into a pattern. Then a document can be recognized as a pattern.
