PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide polyionic complex excellent in hydrophilicity and useful as a separative membrane impermeable to oxygen and air and permeable to water, containing a specified polyanion and a specified polycation as constituents. CONSTITUTION:A sodium salt (A) of a polyanion of the structure of formula I is obtained by separating a lysine polyamide having ester groups in its side chains, obtained by polycondensing an L-lysine ester obtained by esterifying the carboxyl group of L-lysine with a dibasic acid dhloride. epsilon-Caprolactam and alpha-(N,N-dimethylamino)-epsilon-caprolactam are anionically polymerized and the product is quaternized with an alkylating agent to obtain a polycation (B) of the structural of formula II (wherein R is a lower alkyl). An aqueous component A solution of a concentration of 0.2-0.8g/100mol is mixed with an aqueous component B solution of a concentration of 0.2-0.8g/100ml at a component ratio of 0.5-1.5 to obtain a polyamide polyionic complex of a reduced viscosity >=0.4.
