A method and a device for generating organisational cards having a hole coding exhibiting a number of rows of holes, particularly so-called ABDA organisational cards, are described. In this method, a hole pattern arranged in a matrix is punched into the organisational card, the hole coding exhibiting a number of positions which are represented by the rows of holes and which can be formed in each case from the same row of codes. After the punching of the hole coding, the organisational card is provided with an imprint corresponding to the hole coding. The individual organisational cards are brought into a punching position corresponding to the first row of holes by means of a feed device. The first row of holes is there punched perpendicularly to the feeding direction of the organisational card. The organisational card is then moved step by step into further punching positions, one row of holes being punched in each punching position. The organisational card is then moved by means of the feeding device to a printing device and provided with the imprint.
