Hollow insets for shells are produced by locating a rotationally symmetrical plank in a mould, pressing the blank with a stamp such that the pressure is slowly and regularly increased, and the blank plastically deforms and flows into the required shape, maintaining the max. pressure for a while before reducing the pressure slowly and then heat treating.
