A process and a device for dispensing glass gobs from a discharge opening (4) of a supply vessel (1). An extension (3) of the supply vessel (1) is provided, which extension (3) extends from top to bottom and has the discharge orifice (4) and in which a plunger (7) is inserted, which can be moved up and down by means of a lift drive (12) and driven so as to rotate about its vertical axis by means of a rotary drive (14). The plunger (7) is provided with agitator elements engaging in the annular gap between plunger (7) and extension (3). The lift drive (12) is designed so as to be open-loop and closed-loop contollable with temporarily variable velocity and the rotary drive (14) is also designed to be open-loop and closed-loop controllable with temporarily variable rotational speed and so as to be reversible. The agitator elements on the plunger (7) are complemented with or replaced by conveying elements (8). <IMAGE>
