PURPOSE:To prevent the leakage of air in a high vacuum in the stage of a column exchange by providing two pieces of parallel columns connecting to an ion source and exchanging the columns by changing over flow passages. CONSTITUTION:A gaseous sample passes the column 32 and after the flow rate is decreased by a splitter 50, the gaseous sample is conducted through a resistance pipe 52 to the ion source 54 when a flow passage selector valve 12 exists in the solid line position. A slight carrier gas from an auxiliary carrier gas flow passage 36 flows to the column 34 and is conducted through a splitter 56 and a resistance pipe 58 to the ion source 54. The gaseous sample passes the column 34 and after the flow rate thereof is decreased by the splitter 56, the gaseous sample is conducted through the resistance pipe 58 to the ion source 54 when the valve 12 is changed over to the broken line position. The slight carrier gas flows from the flow passage 36 to the column 32 and is conducted through the splitter 50 and the resistance pipe 52 to the ion source 54. The valve 12 is provided on the upper stream side of the columns 32, 34. The valve 12 is consequently used under the pressure and the intrusion of the air is prevented. The analysis of a trace component is thus executed.
