PURPOSE:To form an inexpensive contact bed for a sewage treatment which has good water permeability, large contact area and good treatment effect by hanging flat cylindrical net pipes at specified spaced intervals into a treatment tank. CONSTITUTION:The light and flat cylindrical net pipes 3 having about 3-8mm mesh intervals and 5-several tens cm width are formed by using resin strands 3' consisting of a PE resin, etc. and having about 0.5-1.2mm diameter. Such net pipes 3 are hung at the specified spaced intervals according to the concn. conditions and load conditions of the sewage to be treated into the treatment tank by using mounting bars 4, 4', etc. More specifically, this contact bed permits the easy deposition of living thing film because of the network and obviates the bed clogging as the inter-bed spacing are opened down to the bottom of the treatment tank in the perpendicular direction. The inexpensive contact bed having the good water permeability and large contact area is thin obtd.
