<p>PURPOSE:To decrease the acid value of a reaction product and to dispense with washing of the reaction product by forming the title catalyst for esterification and transesterification with a polyol polytitanate having a polytitanic acid structure. CONSTITUTION:The reaction product of alkoxy titanium and a polyol or water is allowed to react with water or a polyol, dealcoholized, polymerized, and highly cross-linked. The product is then treated with water and hydrated to produce a catalyst for esterification and transesterification consisting of the polyol polytitanate having a polytitanic acid structure. Concretely, the reaction product of the alkoxy titanium of a lower alcohol, a higher mono-functional alcohol, and a polyol is allowed to react with water, dealcoholized, polymerized, highly cross-linked, further treated with water, and hydrated to produce the polyol polytitanate.</p> |
