NEW MATERIAL:Anthracycline antibiotic substance SN-706 having the following physical, chemical and biological properties. Form, reddish brown solid; melting point, 161-163 deg.C (decomposition); UV absorption spectrum nm (E1cm<1>) shown in Figure 1; IR absorption spectrum (KBr), shown in Figure 2; solubility, easily soluble in chloroform and dichloromethane, soluble in benzene, acetone, ethyl acetate, ethanol and methanol hardly soluble in n-hexane and water; Rf value, thin layer chromatography, 0.67 [silica gel: chloroform-methanol-acetic acid (20:5:1)]; classification by basic, acidic or neutral, ampholytic substance; antibacterial spectrum (agar plate method using paper disk), active to inhibit Gram-positive bacteria; other biological activity, active to inhibit cultured Hela cell. USE:Antitumor antibiotic substance. PREPARATION:Actinomadura roseoviolacea SN-706 (FERM P-7890) separated from soil of Miura city, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan is inoculated in a medium and cultured under aerobic condition at 25-37 deg.C for 2-4 days. |
