<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently separate a gas by introducing a gaseous mixture under pressure into an adsorption tower packed with a hydrophobic adsorbent to adsorb the easy-to-adsorb component, then reducing the pressure to liberate the easy-to-adsorb component, and then passing steam to desorb the component. CONSTITUTION:A gaseous mixture contg. lower hydrocarbons such as propylene is introduced at 1-30kg/cm<2>G into the adsorption tower packed with a hydrophobic adsorbent such as activated carbon and molecular siebing carbon, the temp. during adsorption is kept at 80-200 deg.C, and the lower hydrocarbons, namely the easy-to-adsorb components, are adsorbed. The pressure in the adsorption tower is then reduced to a pressure between 5kg/cm<2>G and the atmospheric pressure to desorb a part of the easy-to-adsorb components. Steam is then introduced into the adsorption tower at a pressure lower than that in the preceding stage and at a temp. (80-200 deg.C) where steam is not condensed, and the easy-to-adsorb components are completely desorbed.</p> |
