PURPOSE:To enable electromagnetic wave beams of high frequency and high output power applicable to plasma heating of a nuclear fusion apparatus, to be generated nat a high efficiency by changing the width of radial slots along the slots which are provided on one of mirrors for constituting a resonator. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a mirror 9 facing a mirror 8 is a concave mirror of donghnut shape over its entire circumference and reflects, oscillates and amplifies, via the mirror 8, electromagnetic wave radiated in the radial direction r. The mirror 9 has a multitude of radial slots 11 which are partially transparent to the amplified electromagnetic wave 5. These slots 11 as, shown in plan and cross sectional views, are tapered to have larger width toward the periphery. Electron beam 1 reacts with electromagnetic wave transmitting radially in the ring-shaped mirror 8 and is converted to electromagnetic energy, and electro magnetic wave generated in the resonator is taken out of the resonator through the radial slots 11. Transmittance through the slots is made uniform by changing the slot width radially (in the direction of slots).
