<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a high-speed and high-precision type tracking device of a time constant type by processing time-distance conversion at a high speed and thinning out sampling at a low speed. CONSTITUTION:The pulse signals (b) which is generated by a roll for detecting the speed of a metallic strip and a pulse generator and indicates the movement of the strip at the prescribed length are inputted to a counter 12 for measuring the moving distance and are counted by the same. The counter 12 takes the count value thereof into the 2nd register 14 at the same instant when the sheet thickness signal is taken into the 1st register 10. A timing device 16 controls the taking in at every specified time. The number of samples increases excessively when the strip speed decreases. The storage into the 1st and 2nd registers is prohibited when the extent of the movement of the strip from the previous storage is of the prescribed value or below. A comparator 24 compares the tracking distance set in a tracking distance setter 26 and the value of the counter 12 at all times and clears the counter 12 when the integrated value of the counter attains the tracking distance.</p> |
