PURPOSE:To improve the precision of head positioning by forming an elastic part on the fixed side of a head supporting arm into an arcuate shape which is so set that plural natural frequencies are separated from one another. CONSTITUTION:A spacer 5 is connected to one end of a cantilever-shaped head supporting arm 1 and is fixed to a guide arm 8 by a screw. An upward projecting arcuate elastic part 10 is formed on the spacer side, namely, the fixed side of the head supporting arm 1, and a rigid beam part 1a where flanges 4 are formed is provided in the part nearer to the head. A head slider 2 is held in the front end of the part 1a through a gimbals. The elastic part 10 of the head supporting arm 1 is formed into the arcuate shape to reduce the head oscillation in the supporting mechanism and the variance of oscillation characteristics, thus improving the precision of head positioning.
