Tin oxide layer deposition on glass - precoated with metal chloride to increase layer conductivity

In the deposition of a tin oxide layer on a glass substrate by contacting the heated substrate with a thermally decomposable and oxidisable tin cpd. opt. mixed with a fluorine cpd., the substrate is pretreated by contact with a gp. IV metal chloride soln. to form a layer of the chloride(s) on its surface. A coated substrate, obtd. by the process, is also claimed.
