A novel chemical fertilizer is manufactured by blending slags and clay powders with the addn. of phosphoric acid. Slags contain soluble CaO, MgO, and SiO2, where the mole ratio of (CaO+MgO) to SiO2 is greater than 1.2 and the avg. particle diameter is 5-30 mesh. CaO and MgO react with 40-80% equiv. amt. of H3PO4 to give CaHPO4 and MgHPO4. A granular P-Si fertilizer contg. P, Ca, Mg, and Si is obtained without a particulate-making process.
