The block comprises: . at least one removable power-switching module (7) comprising a power switch (26) fastened to a heat transfer unit (23) and an electronic component (27) for receiving optical signals; and . at least one dissipator (8) comprising at least one surface which interacts closely with the heat transfer unit (23) of the module (7) and diffuses the heat produced by the power switch (26) of the said module. Advantageously, the dissipator (8) serves as support for the module (7) as well as for a unit (32) for transmitting optical signals, which unit is situated exactly opposite the component (27) for receiving optical signals when the module (7) is correctly fastened to the dissipator. In this way the optical connection between the electronic component (27) for reception and the unit (32) for transmitting optical signals is made only if the thermal link between the heat transfer unit (23) and the dissipator (8) is ensured. <IMAGE>
