PURPOSE:To perform settling of account by providing a card with a fault display area and giving a visible display to this area from an information processor if the read defect of the card occurs and detecting this display to perform the processing for the impossibility of the reuse. CONSTITUTION:A mark 13 of frequency in use and a trouble display area 14 are provided on the front face of a card 6, and a required code is recorded on a magnetic stripe 5 on the rear face. When the card is inserted, information on the magnetic stripe is read by a magnetic stripe reader 32; and in case of normal read, the adjustment processing is performed by an adjustment processing control circuit 31, and the balance in a part 5b of the code of the amount of money is rewritten by a data writing device 29, and the frequency in use is marked by a punching mechanism 60. In case of defective read, it is discriminated by the circuit 31 whether a fault mark exists in the fault display area 14 or not. If this mark does not exist, the mark of frequency in use is read and confirmed by the circuit 31, and the fault display mark is given by a punch control circuit 30 and is displayed on a means 8 and is reported by a means 36. In case of the fault card, the occurrence of fault in the past is discriminated by the circuit 31 based on defective read and the fault display mark, and the impossibility of the use is displayed on the means 8 and is reported by the means 36. By the visible fault display, the reuse of the defective card is prevented and the precision of charge adjustment is improved. |
