PURPOSE:To enlarge an adaptable temperature range, by supplying hydrogen into an auxiliary tank containing metal hydride when the pressure in a hydrogen reserve tank exceeds a predetermined value, and by heating the auxiliary tank when the pressure is below a predetermined value to feed hydrogen to the hydrogen reserve tank. CONSTITUTION:A first metal hydride is connected to a hydrogen reserve tank 14 through a communication pipe 12 having a first valve 16. Further, in parallel with the first metal hydride, a second metal hydride in an auxiliary tank 20 is disposed through the intermediary of a branch pipe 22 having a second valve 24 and an one-way valve 24. When the pressure in the hydrogen reserve tank 14 exceeds a predetermined value, the one-way valve 26 is opened to supply hydrogen into the auxiliary tank 20. When the pressure in the hydrogen reserve tank 14 is below the predetermined value, the second valve 24 is opened so that the hydride in the auxiliary tank 20 is heated by a heater 28 to supply hydrogen into the hydrogen reserve tank 14.
