PURPOSE:To keep the sensitivity of each composing color constant regardless of the type of color by varying the area of a light receiving part of each compos ing color in a color image sensor as a solid-state image pickup element accord ing to the photospectroscopic sensitivity of the image sensor and the transmissivity of a color filter. CONSTITUTION: A red filter 4, a green filter 5 and a blue filter 6 are formed on the light receiving parts 1, 2 and 3 for plural composing colors. The areas of the red, green and blue light receiving parts 1, 2 and 3 vary in accordance with the photospedroscopic sensitivity and the transmissivity, and plural composing colors have the same (photospedroscopic sensitivity) X (transmissivity) X(light receiving area). Therefore the total sensitivity of all composing colors becomes constant.
