PURPOSE:To facilitate confirming a decimal tab execution position on a screen by providing a character information input means, decimal tab processing instructing, executing, and display means, and a control means of these means. CONSTITUTION:Keys FK5 and FK6 on a keyboard KB are operated to move a printing head, and it is set to the fourth digit and the tenth digit by a key FK3. An input character string is displayed on a screen LCD in order from the left end. Characters are inputted to a second row by a new row CR after the input of a first row. When an execution key FK4 is depressed, a decimal tab mark 4 is displayed on the screen for the purpose of equalizing print start positions of lines to the already determined decimal tab position of the fourth digit in case of printing by a printer PR, and a processor waits for key input. Numbers 1, 3, and 5 are inputted, and the key FK4 is depressed again, and the processor waits for input. Next, numbers 2 and 0 are inputted and the line feed key CR is depressed; and when a print key FK7 is depressed, the print result due to execution of the prescribed decimal tab is obtained. Devices and functions related to this operation are operated under the control of a CPU, and an operator performs the character processing while confirming the execution position of the decimal tab on the display screen.
