PURPOSE:To enable partial space heating by changing over a hot air flow space heating and a radiation space heating to each other by providing a heater, a blower and the like in the interior of the main body of the heater and constituting the space heater of a heat storage material one side of which faces the inside of the main body and another side of which faces the front surface of the main body, and providing a temperature sensor in the heat storage material. CONSTITUTION:A main body 1 of space heater has therein an electric heater 2 as a heating device and a blower 3. A heat storage material 7 provided in its inner part with a temperature sensor 8 is constituted such that its one side faces the inside of the main body 1 and its another side forms the front surface of the main body. When the electric heater 2 and the blower 3 are driven, indoor air in the form of a hot air flow is blown off through a blow-off port 6 into the room, and at the same time, the electric heater 2 heats the heat storage material 7. In a short time, the temperature of the heat storage material 7 reaches a temperature set by a temperature setter 9, a contact 12 is opened through a transistor 10 and a relay 11 to stop the heater 2 and the motor 13 for the blower 3. Thereafter, the heat storage material conducts a radiation of heat to the inside of the room, thus the radiation space heating being carried out. Further, when the temperature of the heat storage material 7 is lowered, the mode of operation is restored to a hot air flow space heating.
