PURPOSE:To improve the intake/exhaust efficiency by dividing a rocker arm for driving an intake/exhaust valve into two parts and permitting said rocker arm to be swung by both of the integral and separate systems and installing the low lift and high lift cams oppositely to the rocker arms and arbitrarily switching the both cams according to the engine operation state. CONSTITUTION: As for a rocker arm 4, a center slipper 6a whose one edge is fixed with a side part slipper 4a by a pin 16 is installed in the center cut part, and the other edge of the center slipper 6a is put into the connection or disconnection state by a pin 11 which controls the connection or disconnection with the hole 9 of the side part slipper 4a. Cams 3a and 3b are installed oppositely to the slippers 4a and 6a, respectively, and when a pin 12 is formed integrally with the hole 9 of the side part slipper 4a, penetrating through the hole 10 of the center slipper 6a, the high lift cam 3b drives the whole of the rocker arm 4. Then the pin 12 is pulled out from the holes 9 and 10 of the both slippers, the center slipper 6a moves in idling, and the rocker arm 4 is driven by the low lift cam 3a.
