The control of surfaces, phase boundaries, interfaces or any kind of inert surfaces comprises admin. or appln. of a substance(s) (I) altering the water-structure binding capacity of these surfaces, phase boundaries and interfaces. - Suitably (I) is a Mg, Al, NH4, Be, Li or Ca salt of an organic or organic acid and/or erythrosine and/or an antioxidant. (I) may also be the adhesion-stimulating substance curcumin or its derivs. An oleo-resin and/or purified fractions of plant extracts contg. curcumin and turmeric acid may be used. (I) may be used in oitmen ointments, creams, lotions, dentrifices etc. - The surfaces etc. may be in biological materials, esp. in animals; they are partic. the stomach and intestines of poultry,pigs, calves etc. Oral admin. of (I) to animals is useful for preventing the establishment of pathogenic bacterial flora in these animals. |
