<p>PURPOSE:To improve an engine output, by a method wherein, in an engine provided with two suction valves on each cylinder and capable of controlling valve overlap of each suction valve, an on-off valve and its bypass passage are provided on one suction port to control a swire interlockingly. CONSTITUTION:Each cylinder A is provided with two suction valves B and C and two exhaust valves D and E, the exhaust valve D can be actuated and stopped according to the running state of an engine. The opening and closing timing of each of suction valves B and C is regulated according to the running state of the engine, and valve overlap of the suction and the exhaust valve is controlled. During low rotation, valve overlap is decreased, simultaneously, an on-off valve V provided at the one suction port is closed, air is sucked through a bypass passage Fs, and a strong swirl is produced in a combustion chamber. During high rotation, valve overlap is increased, and the on-off valve V is opened.</p> |
