PURPOSE:To restrict structural vibration as well as combustion vibration without varying the operating condition of a combustion unit and to realize a stable combustion over an entire operating range by a method wherein a liner of combustion unit formed by an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder is axially slidable and variable vanes for adjusting opening area of an injection port of a swirler installed at the base part of the liner of the combustion unit are made rotatable. CONSTITUTION:A liner 2 of combustion unit is comprised of the fixed liner 2a of an inner cylinder and the variable liner 2b of an outer cylinder slidably fitted from outside. A cylindrical swirler 1 is concentrically fixed so as to project to a main body 6 of a fuel injection nozzle at a base part of the variable liner 2b. The variable vanes 19 are fixed through a vane supporter 21 for a rotary shaft 20 passing through a central part of the swirler 1. When the variable banes 19 are rotated, a fuel injection port 14 of the swirler 1 and an opening area of a air injection port 15 gradually increases or decreases, so that a pressure loss of the liner 2 of the combustion unit can be varied and a vibration in combustion can be restricted and further when the variable liner 2b is axially slid, the entire length of the vibrating system is varied, so air column vibration or resonance phenomenon of structural vibration can be restricted.
