<p>PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of an optical AND circuit, by applying electric field pulses to both ends of a part comprising quantumwell structured photodetectors, which are connected in series and receive first light pulses, and an output impedance, and outputting the AND value of the first light pulse and negative value of the electric field pulses across the output impedance. CONSTITUTION:A photodetector 3 receives the second light pulses (b). A quantum-well structured photodetector 1 receives the first optical pulses (a). The photodetectors 3 and 1 are connected in series. An electric field is applied to the photodetectors 3 and 1 and an output impedance 2. The electric field corresponding to the second light pulses is applied to the quantum-well structured photodetector 1 through the photodetector 3. The AND value of the first light pulses and the negative value of the second optical value can be outputted across the output impedance 2. Thus the AND value of the light pulses, which are recieved by the QW structured photodetector and the electric field pulses, which are applied to the QW structured photodetector, or the light pulses forming said electric field pulses can be obtained as electric pulses.</p> |
