PURPOSE:To automatically switch a line to a telephone/facsimile side from a transmission side by providing a hook-off detector to check whether or not a telephone set is in hooked off state, and a connection and switching control means to switch a connection-switching means to the telephone side at the time of hooked off state but to the facsimile side at the time of non-hooked off state respectively. CONSTITUTION:A ringing detector 6B, detects a ringing transmitted through the line by a call from the transmission side. A hook-off detector 7B detects the hooking-off of a telephone 5B. Assuming that the detector 6B detects the ringings based on the call from the transmission side for n-times, the hook-off detector 7B operates to check the hook-off state of the line, and if the line is in hook-off state, a CPU 8B controls a relay 2B to connect the line to the telephone 5B. However, if not in hook-off state, the CPU 8B controls the relay 2B through a network control 1B to connect the line to the facsimile.
