PURPOSE:To improve weatherability and to perform high density recording, by forming a recording layer by successively laminating a selenium layer, a palladium layer and a tellurium-selenium alloy layer to a substrate. CONSTITUTION:Recording laser beam is condensed to a recording layer 21 through a substrate 1 to irradiate the same to form a pit 22. The substrate 1 is formed using a synthetic resin such as polycarbonate, polyelefin, or glass. The substrate 1 is introduced into a vacuum vapor deposition apparatus to evacuate said apparatus and a selenium layer 2 is formed at first by resistance heating vapor deposition and a palladium layer 3 is subsequently formed by electron beam heating vapor deposition and, at least, a tellurium-selenium alloy layer 4 is formed by resistance heating vapor deposition to form a recording layer. Herein, the thickness of the selenium layer 2 is set to 5-100Angstrom , that of the palladium layer 3 to 0.5-50Angstrom and that of the tellurium-selenium layer 4 to 100-500Angstrom . The compositional ratio of the tellurium-selenium alloy is adjusted so that the atomic % of selenium is 5-50. By this method, an optical recording medium excellent in weatherability and capable of performing high density recording is obtained. |
