PURPOSE:To raise throughput regardless of the voltage value of a commercial power source, by making a printing speed variable corresponding to the voltage value of the commercial power source detected and a printing duty value detected. CONSTITUTION:A commercial power source voltage detection means 1 detects the voltage value of a commercial power source inputted to a printer and a printing duty detection means 2 detects the printing duty value printed by the printer. A printability judge means 3 judges whether the duty value detected by the means 2 can be printed on the basis of the voltage value detected by the means 1 to transmit a signal to a printing speed variable means 4. The means 4 changes a printing speed on the basis of the signal received from the means 3. For example, when printing is possible, the means 3 judges the degree of the printing speed making printing possible and transmits the judge signal to the means 4 which is turn changes the printing speed to said printable speed. When the means 3 judges the impossiblity of printing, said means 3 judges the degree of the printing speed making printing possible to transmit the judge signal to the means 4 which in turn changes the printing speed to said printable speed.
