PURPOSE:To suppress the wasteful dissipation of the by-produced gas generated from the coke furnace, blast furnace, converter, etc., of an ironworks and the increase of the quantity of purchased power by operating and determining an energy balance by an information processor from the information on the production of the respective factories in the ironworks at the time of making effective use of the by-product gas. CONSTITUTION:The operations in the ironworks are executed by replenishing part of the energy to be used in the many factories in the ironworks by the private power generation using the combustible by-produced gas generated from the coke furnace, blast furnace and converter in the ironworks and purchasing electric power for the deficiency. The long-term and short term plans for the energy operation based on the production plans in the ironworks are made out in such a case and the energy balance over the entire part in the ironworks is calculated from the amt. of the by-produced gas to be generated and the capacity of the gas holder for the by-produced gas so as to dispense with a min. of the quantity of the private power generation and the quantity of purchased power. The consumption of the by-produced gas for the private power generation is thereby determined, by which the wasteful dissipation of the by-produced gas without utilizing the same and the increase of the quantity of the purchased power from an electric power company are prevented and the energy consumption over the entire part in the ironworks is rationalized.
