PURPOSE:To enable a propeller shaft to suppress its lateral vibration amplitude, by supporting the propeller shaft, so that its elastic displacement can be performed, in a stern pipe between a stern side bearing and an intermediate bearing by a curved plateshaped supporting member further providing through holes of oil for damping in the supporting member. CONSTITUTION:In an intermediate position between a stern side bearing and an intermediate bearing, a propeller shaft 3 is resiliently supported to a stern pipe 2 by compression springs 15 in cylindrical guide sleeves 14 through an almost semicylindrical supporting member 11 which provides a low friction member 12, having a contour slightly larger than that of the propeller shaft 3, to be arranged on the upper surface while plural slits 13 to be drilled in both sides of said member 12. Accordingly, if the propeller shaft 3 generates lateral vibration, for instance, in the vertical direction, also the supporting member 11 vertically reciprocates, causing lubricating oil between the propeller shaft 3 and the stern pipe 2 to be fluidized through the slits 13, and the supporting member 11, which receives damping force by the viscosity of the lubricating oil, small suppresses amplitude of the propeller shaft 3. In this way, the lateral vibration amplitude of the propeller shaft can be suppressed by a simplified structure which can be additionally provided.
