PURPOSE:To synthesize the without the mis-registration of a synthesized character by recognizing synthesizing position information on picture data on the position on which the character is synthesized with the picture data and correcting the synthesizing position to position it. CONSTITUTION:A picture processor 3 obtains a synthesizing area coordinate and the inclination of a picture stored in a position information memory 5. Then, according to the size of a previously applied character synthesizing area and the size of the synthesized character, the center line 12 of the character synthesizing position of a synthesizing character area 9 is obtained. Then, the picture processor 3 performs the synthesizing positioning of a character code along the center line 12, corrects the character synthesizing position to the inclination of the picture and develops a character code pattern in a picture memory 2. Said processing is carried out until the development of all character codes is completed, and the synthesized character can be stored in the character synthesizing area 9 without the mis-registration of the synthesized character.
