PURPOSE:To prevent an original text sheet from skewing by supporting one or more follower rollers shorter than the sheet feeding width independently from the main roller, and by furnishing two or more sheet sensors in a zone which is near the extension of the main/follower rollers contacting line and is free of follower roller. CONSTITUTION:Follower roller 20 consists of one or more rollers whose overall length is shorter than the original text sheet feeding width capable of reading, and is supported independently from the main roller 19. Two sensors 21-1, 21-2 are installed in a range which is situated on the extension of the main/follower rollers contacting part and is free of follower roller 20. If original text sheet is pressed by hand to the roller couple 19, 20 so as to form a loop, the leading edge is uniformly contacted to the contact part of the roller couple 19, 20. Further this condition is sensed by the sensors 21-1, 21-2 followed by rotation of the main roller 19, so that the original text sheet outgoing from the roller couple 19, 20 is put in parallel with the feeding direction perfectly to be passed to the read part. This prevents perfectly the sheet from skewing.
