PURPOSE:To prevent sheet members to be defectively loaded on a tray and to permit them to be aligned at a position in a horizontal direction, gripping sheet members on loading means by drive means and confronting discharge means for discharging them and pressing them to drive and discharge means by a pressing member downstream of the confronting discharge means. CONSTITUTION:A sheet member S gripped by a belt 8, a first confronting roller 6 and a second confronting roller 10 travels to a point A on a tray 7 at a discharge angle theta1 of a belt 8. It is discharged along the inclined surface of the tray 7 after it reaches the point A. The sheet member S is pressed downwardly at its rear edge by a pressing member 12 at the time when the rear edge portion of it passes through a point where a second confronting roller 10 is brought into contact with the belt 8. As a result, the pressing member causes the sheet member S to be kicked out by the projections disposed around the belt 8 even if the rear edge portion of the sheet member S is curled. With the arrangement, since the projections on the drive and discharge means apply force to the sheet member S to securely kick out it, a defective loading of the sheet members on the tray is prevented and they are aligned at a position in a horizontal direction well.
