PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of falling-off particles by applying a suspension containing a metal-alkoxide compound, and at least one substance selected from a group of a metal oxide, a carbide and a nitride to the surface of a shadow mask and applying a metal-alkoxide compound over said film. CONSTITUTION:A metal-alkoxide compound14 applied to the surface of a shadow mask 7 performs hydrolysis by absorbing moisture or the like in the atmosphere to form a film caused by polycondensation reaction among alkoxides themselves to act as a binder of a filler such as a metal oxide, a carbide or nitride. The phenomenon described above enables them to form a strong layer. Thereby, further application of the metal-alkoxide compound 14 on to the surface layer having a large containing rete of filer particles acts as a binder which prevents the film from falling-off of particles in the succeding process.
