PURPOSE:To avoid a positional dislocation between new and old webs and to joint them perfectly, by causing a web to float between a web winding shaft and a web receiving table by applying tension to it and sensing a web side edge for controlling the position of the web. CONSTITUTION:A winding shaft B to be moved in an axial direction by a cylinder is provided at the lower edge portion of a turret arm 3 and a new web 6 is wound around it. A web holder 7 is fixed at the front edge of the new web 6 and the web is hooked to a hook member 8 of a take-out mechanism 9 to be fed onto a web receiving table 10. The web is floated by jet air from the extreme end of the receiving table 10 and tension is applied to the web by the weight of a holder. When the hook member 8 is returned and the receiving table 10 is lifted to be of the same level with the height of the winding shaft B, sensing means 21 is inserted into the front side edge of the web 6. If the position of the web is dislocated, the winding shaft B is moved in an axial direction in response to a signal so that it is controlled to coincide with the side edge of an old web 1. The webs are adsorbed by an adsorbing unit 12 and pressed by a pressing unit 26 and the new web is cut by a cutter 1 to be jointed.
