PURPOSE:To provide a high-molecular material which can be easily molded into any of film, plate, stick, fiber, etc. and exhibits a thermally reversible cloud point phenomenon over a wide temp. range, consisting of a copolymer of metal salts of org. carboxylic acids including an org. carboxylic acid having an unsaturated bond with a hydrophobic monomer having an unsaturated bond. CONSTITUTION:A high-molecular material exhibiting a thermally reversible cloud point phenomenon is mainly composed of a metal-contg. resin exhibiting a phase separation phenomenon caused by a difference in compatibility between a hydrophilic metal ion and a hydrophobic org. matter. The high-molecular material having thermally reversible cloud points is formed at least from residues of components of formulas I and/or II (wherein M is a metal; m is the oxidation number of the metal; R1 is H, CH3, C2H5, CH2COOCH3 or CH2 COOC2H5; and R2 is a 4C or higher hydrophobic hydrocarbon group), wherein an org. carboxylic acid of the formula R2COOH is coordinated with a metal ion, and a repeating unit composed of a residue of a hydrophobic monomer. |
