PURPOSE:To easily measure the inner size of a body to be measured by leaving a gap inside the outermost winding part of a tape wound in the case of a measuring tape with marks in, and reading a graduation by utilizing the gap. CONSTITUTION:The gap 2 is provided between a tape winding part 1b and the outermost winding part 1c by swelling outward part of the outermost winding part 1c of the tape winding part 1b in a case main body. Then, an opening part 4 which is open to the outside is provided to the case main body 3 constituted while the tape winding part wound with the gap 2 is held as it is so that graduations of the tape is seen directly through the gap 2. Further, a read line 6 is marked at the circular edge of the opening part 4 corresponding to the length from the tip of the tape 1a to a point B of the case body 3, so that the numeral of a graduation indicated by the read line 6 is accurate inner size.
