System for partition doors used in underwater storage facilities for nuclear reactor fuel rods comprises a double seal extending around the periphery of the door so that a dead space is formed between the two seals. This space is connected by a pipe to a remote level-detecting system comprising two level detectors mounted at different elevations. A branch pipe connects the dead space also to a pump. In the event of leakage into the dead space, the fluid passes to the first level detector which triggers an alarm. If no corrective action is taken and the level reaches the second detector, the pump is automatically started to clear fluid from the dead space. The time taken between triggering the two alarms gives a measure of the rate of leakage. The seal assembly comprises two continuous, resilient, seal tubes extending around the door periphery.
|
