摘要 High-temperature resistant mouldings can be shaped from fine-grained-amorphous silicon dioxide, and then sintered. The mouldings known as silicon-dioxide ceramics have only a low resistance to mechanical stresses. To enhance in particular the mechanical strength, such as improved edge resistance, reduced abrasive wear etc. it is proposed that the sintered object (2) is subjected, at selected points (8, 12) to glazing by localized melting by means of an intense energy source, such as for example a high-temperature burner or laser.
