The hospital bed has a multi-part, adjustable mattress frame comprising a top frame part (101) and a central frame part (102) and a thigh support (103) mounted in a support frame of a bedstead. The top frame part (101) and the thigh support (103) are pivotable and are connected to one another so as to be couplable by force transmission means for this pivoting movement. The central frame part (102) is firmly mounted in the support frame (100) and the top frame part (101) and the thigh support (103) are each mounted in the support frame (100) so as to be pivotable about a swivelling axis (104, 105) located in the vicinity of the central frame part (102). The top frame part (101) has an actuation lever (108) which interacts non-positively with a lever arm (111), fastened on the thigh support, in the adjustment of the top frame part after having passed through a dead movement path for the simultaneous pivoting of the thigh support (103). A force transmitter (116), preferably a gas pressure spring, is arranged between the support frame (100) and the lever arm (111) of the thigh support (103), for further pivoting of the thigh support (103) independently of the top frame part (101). <IMAGE>
