摘要 PURPOSE:To produce a sort of a supercharging effect to improve an intake air charging efficiency, by a method wherein the more an engine load is increased, the more a timing valve is opened in delay than a suction top dead center. CONSTITUTION:An opening and closing timing responding to opening and closing of an intake air port 8 of a timing valve 30 is varied by a timing control means 25. The valve 30 is closed earlier than a suction bottom dead center, and the more an engine load is increased, the more a valve opening timing is delayed, and an effective valve opening period is increased. In this case, based on signals from various detectors 43-47, detecting the running state of an engine, the control means 25 performs control with the aid of a control unit 40. During middle and high load running, a valve opening timing is set by means of the control means 25 so that the valve 30 is opened in delay then the to dead center of a piston. This constitution inverts a negative pressure wave to a positive pressure wave by means of a surge tank 13, resulting in production of a sort of a super-charging effect.
