PURPOSE:To obtain a detecting band easy to attach at any detecting location with a simple construction, by wrapping a plurality of parallel metal strands with a band body made of a synthetic resin while a number of metal exposed faces are provided on one or two surfaces thereof in such a manner as to be parallel but in non-continuity. CONSTITUTION:While two stainless strands 1 each made by twisting about 11 stainless wires each with the diameter of about 0.3mm are moved as kept tense parallel at an interval of about 4mm through a mold, flexible and electrically insulating noncombustible powdered vinyl chloride is fused and injected. Moreover, when a belt-shaped body 3 is formed with a cover layer 2 about the strands 1 near at an outlet by cooling, the top surfaces of both the strands 1 and 1 are slidden in contact with a jig mounted at a position before the hardening of the vinyl chloride fused in the mold to form a number of metal exposed faces 4 in a shape of an inclined oblong parallel close to one another in noncontinuity along the length. With such an arrangement, when a water leakage occurs at an attached point, the metal exposed faces 4 are made to conduct by water to form a circuit and a current flows. Thus, the water leakage is detected with a locating device. |
