PURPOSE:To detect shape variation over the entire internal surface of a tube by transmitting ultrasonic waves from air ultrasonic probes, reflecting them by a multiplane hollow cone type reflecting plate and causing them to impinge on the tube internal surface, and detecting their reflected waves. CONSTITUTION:A sliding packing 2a is brought in to contact with a gas conduit 1 internally, a pig 2 is inserted, and gas pressure is applied from behind, so that the pig 2 slides in the gas conduit 1. At this time, a servo-motor 5 is driven by a power source 6 to rotate the multiplane hollow cone type reflecting plate 4, and ultrasonic waves are transmitted by the air ultrasonic wave probes 3 at the same time, so that the ultrasonic waves are reflected by the multiplane hollow once type reflecting hole 4 at right angles and impinge on the internal surface of the conduit 1. Their reflected waves are received and sensed by the probes 3 to detect the reflected waves of the air ultrasonic waves securely. This operation is repeated to detect the shape variation of the internal surface of the gas conduit 1.
