PLUG VALVE WITH FIXED SEATING ADJUSTMENT

A lubricated tapered plug valve has a plug mounted for limited free axial movement away from its seat. The cover on the body at the large end of the plug has a stop surface for limiting movement of the plug away from the seat and spacers of preselected thickness are provided for fixing the axial distance the plug may travel away from metal-to-metal contact with the seat under the thrust of a spring which urges the plug away from its seat.
