An apparatus for decortication of plants which are rich in long fibres such as hemp, jute, kenaf and the like, directly on the field, comprises in succession, on a strong chassis 1 mounted movably on wheels 2 by means of suitable suspensions 3 and intended to be drawn in the field, a tiltable feeder hopper 5 for feeding in the plants, a plurality of pairs of working (crushing and cleaning) cylinders 6-9, 11-14, a delivery roller 15 and a discharge device 16, and a motor 20 for the rotary driving of the cylinders and said roller by way of suitable transmission means. Cylinder pairs 6-8, 11, 12 are crusher cylinders while pairs 9, 13, 14 are cleaning cylinders such as for detaching the crushed hemp portions from the bark. Device 16 is a slide-type discharge device and is formed by a transverse slide with a thrust blade 18 which can be actuated manually by a handle. A v-belt transmission exists between the motor 20 and the roller 15 and one cylinder of each pair of the crusher cylinders, and a chain transmission exists between the motor 20 and the cleaning cylinders. <IMAGE> |
