The apparatus (1) for calibrating the hollow profile, emerging from an extruder and initially still in a plastic state, has at least one openable dry calibrating part (2, 3) and a vacuum tank (4), which is arranged downstream of the latter in the direction of advance of the profile, and in which the profile is cooled under negative pressure by liquid, preferably water, or if appropriate also by gas. Both at the entry and at the exit of the vacuum tank (4) there is in each case an opening (7) provided for the profile to pass through, which opening corresponds to the contour of the profile and can or is intended to have some play with respect to the profile. For sealing off the entry opening (7) and the exit opening for the profile, there is therefore provided in each case on the outside of the vacuum tank (4) a liquid basin (8), the filling level of which is arranged above the highest points of the entry opening (7) or the exit opening, respectively, so that even complicated profiles can be processed and nevertheless a loss of negative pressure inside the vacuum tank (4) is kept as low as possible. <IMAGE> |
