PURPOSE:To effectively remove a lubricant sticking to a Ti or Ti alloy material cold worked with the lubricant without using an org. solvent before heat treatment by washing the material with an alkali detergent cong. an optionally added chelating agent. CONSTITUTION:A Ti or Ti alloy material cold worked with a lubricant has the lubricant sticking to the surface. In order to remove the lubricant, the material is immersed in an alkali detergent contg. an optionally added chelating agent. The concn. of the detergent is 5-100g/l and the temp. is 60-90 deg.C. The material is then washed with water, dried and heat treated by heating in vacuum or in an inert gas.
